The new World Communion of Reformed Churches

The REC is currently working on a plan to merge with the World Alliance of Reformed Churches, to form a new organization to be called the World Communion of Reformed Churches. The two bodies have now completed a draft constitution and proposals on the transition.

Please visit the web site for the Uniting General Council to be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, June 18-28, 2010, for up-to-date information on that event.

For Participants in the Uniting General Council, Registration Forms are now available in English, Spanish, French and German

The Reformed Ecumenical Council: Who We Are
The Reformed Ecumenical Council is a council of Reformed and Presbyterian denominations from around the world. We have 41 members in 25 countries. We meet in an Assembly, which elects an Executive Committee, and the council is served by a Secretariat based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. For the story from our origins in 1946 to the present, see our history.

What We Do
The REC brings together leaders from Reformed churches across the world.
This ministry comes to expression in meetings, consultations, personal visits, and leadership development. As a special service, we offer data on the theological schools affiliated with our member churches.

Reformed Resources and News
The REC produces a monthly newsletter, The REC News Exchange, available to you in print or by email.
The REC Focus was a quarterly published from 2000-2006 reflecting on issues important to our members.
In October 2008, the REC published a special collection of essays in youth ministry, available from the REC office.
Previous publications going back to 1990 are also posted and searchable.

We want to help

Richard L. van Houten, General SecretaryI thank you for coming here, and I hope what we offer here helps you. For deeper involvement with the ministries of the REC, I invite you to consider becoming a Friend of the REC.

All the work you see here takes money. If you are able, we would really appreciate your help. We have an opportunity on our site for direct financial support and information about how to contribute in other ways.

Richard L. van Houten, REC General Secretary
