Christian Church of Sumba (GKS) The Christian Church of Sumba was founded in 1947. They have 109 congregations with about 700 branches or evangelism sites. The 124 ministers, assisted by 203 evangelists and 500 lay preachers, serve some 350,000 members and regular attenders. Another 114 pastoral candidates are also serving as assistants. The GKS ordains women. Of the current pastors, there are 38 women, but 70% of the candidates are women. The GKS began a new evangelist training school in 2005. The churches meet every four years in synod. They have adopted the Holy Scriptures and the Heidelberg Catechism as their doctrinal standards.
