Bringing Reformed Church Leaders Together

Southern Sumatra Christian Church (GKSBS)
(Gereja Kristen Sumatra Bagian Selatan)

The Southern Sumatra Christian Church was founded in 1987. They have 73 congregations. The 64 ministers serve some 36,900 members and regular attenders. The churches meet every three years in synod. They have adopted the Heidelberg Catechism as their doctrinal standard.

The synod board (Moderamen) has one representative from each of the 13 classes, one elected chairperson and two appointed officials (general secretary and a treasurer).  There are three program directors representing foundations that were formed to operate the ministry programs (e.g. Christian Schools), a Research and Development person and seven office staff serving in the denominational office. The GKSBS has several supportive and fraternal relationships (such as P3H, a fraternal association of NGOs, a seminary and the Christian Hospital).
