The Toraja Church was founded on May 25, 1947. In 1905 a teacher came from another island nereby, and in 1913 the Reformed Mission League (GZB)came to help. Toraja Church has 820 congregations and 200 branches. Their 502 ministers serve 400,000 members. The churches meet in four area synods and classis. They have adopted the Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession, Toraja Confession as their doctrinal standards.
